Dear CBAP Community,
As we close out the 35th year of the Community Based Activity Program (CBAP), I want to extend a sincere and special thank you to everyone who has helped this impactful program thrive for such an incredible group of kids. It has been very gratifying to witness our remarkable staff move through our program and then out into our schools and community-making a difference as general and special education teachers, instructional assistants, occupational and physical therapists, speech therapists, school psychologists, and as community members who understand and believe that people of all abilities belong and can contribute to the greater good. Over the years, I've watched our culture in Forest Grove grow into a strong, supportive community that genuinely values every individual. Your dedication, compassion, and willingness to embrace inclusion have helped shape this transformation. Thank you for your ongoing efforts to support inclusion and everything it stands for. When we began this journey in 1990, we held a vision of a strong partnership between the Forest Grove School District, Pacific University, and our Forest Grove community-a partnership built on a clear continuum of services and programs for people of all abilities. Over the years, we have made tremendous progress toward that vision. We have expanded to include a much larger CBAP summer program, a year-round outdoor adventure program (AWL), Community-Based Instruction at our Cedar Street House, the K-12 peer tutor program, Unified for All activities and sports, and the Douglas Street Campus transition program for individuals ages 18-21. Our nonprofit has also developed the Companion Program and the Journeys Program for adults 22 and older, grounded in the same philosophy of community inclusion that guides all of our programs. Together, these efforts have created a true continuum of services embedded within our community. I am always moved when parents tell me how fortunate their son or daughter is to be part of a community like Forest Grove. And they are right-this is a special place. We will continue to improve and develop programs and services in alignment with the school district and the broader community, and we will do so with your ongoing support. As we move toward the end of 2025, I recognize that our community has many important and diverse needs. I want to extend my sincere thanks to all who have supported our CBAP scholarship fund, making it possible for both children and adults to participate in our programs. If you would like to donate to the CBAP scholarship fund, please visit cbapkids.com and click DONATE. Your financial support truly makes a difference. Thank you for helping CBAP continue to change lives.
